Overview

The Orion Traditional is a built-in or insert electric fireplace designed to fit new framed openings or retrofit into an existing wood-burning fireplace. It is available in five widths, from 25 to 53 inches, and covers both a fresh construction install and a straightforward swap for an older masonry opening.

Flame Presentation

The flame display combines three flame patterns with six color options for a total of 18 combinations, with adjustable flame speed. A multicolor ember bed and downlighting add visual depth, and an ambient crackling sound effect rounds out the presentation. Flame and heat operate independently, so the fireplace can run as a lit feature without warmth when that is preferred.

Heating

Two heat levels are available, with coverage rated between roughly 450 and 900 square feet depending on model size. A built-in thermostat holds a set temperature between about 66°F and 88°F, and a timer can be set for up to 8 hours of unattended operation.

Installation

The unit operates vent-free and can be installed as plug-in or hardwired, with hardwired installs requiring a dedicated 20-amp circuit. A 1.3-inch built-in trim conceals the gap between the unit and surrounding wall for a finished look. Certain models are also rated for outdoor installation; check the specific size and version before planning an outdoor build.

Controls

The fireplace can be operated through a companion app, the included remote, or touch controls built into the unit, allowing flame pattern, color, speed, and heat to be adjusted without a wall switch. Scheduling through the app allows the fireplace to be set to run automatically on a recurring basis.

Two Versions Available

Both versions share the same core flame technology, traditional proportions, and installation flexibility. The newer version adds a lit log set with an active ember bed as standard, updated app connectivity with over-the-air flame updates, additional crackling sound variations, and outdoor-rated installation with an optional frameless finish. The earlier version ships with a standard acrylic log and glass media package and is rated for indoor installation only.
